ABOUT INTO THE MYTHOS
Into the Mythos is an independent, family-built mercantile in the making. It brings together practical goods, thoughtful design, shared imagination, and an original world created to leave a little more room for wonder in the everyday life.

Modern life keeps us moving quickly and practically, and keeps our attention fixed on whatever comes next.
But wonder has not disappeared.
It still lives in that book you can't put down, a path through the woods, a garden waking after winter, or an object that makes you stop and look a little closer.
Into the Mythos began with a simple belief: useful things do not have to be ordinary.
A journal, a bag, a bookmark, a kitchen companion, or a curious little object can do its job well and still carry a sense of story.
This is a place for readers, wanderers, makers, gardeners, collectors, daydreamers, and anyone who believes curiosity is worth keeping.
Each collection begins with shared ideas, sketches, questions, and stories. From there, it moves through a process of research, design, making, and sourcing before eventually becoming something useful to carry, keep, give, or use.
The six regions of the Mythos provide a place for every collection to begin. Their landscapes, stories, traditions, and mysteries help shape the mood, materials, motifs, and practical purpose behind each idea.
Those ideas become sketches, written concepts, prototypes, and sourcing research. Some goods may be designed or made in-house. Others may be carefully selected from independent makers and suppliers whose work fits the collection.
Only finished goods that meet our standards for usefulness, character, and quality will reach the Mercantile. The first collection is still being developed and tested, and the shelves will grow thoughtfully over time.
What we believe
A beautiful object still has to earn its place. We look for goods that can be carried, used, read, written in, worked with, given, or kept - not merely displayed and forgotten.
We favor thoughtful construction, useful materials, and designs that can remain relevant beyond a passing trend. The goal is not endless novelty. It is finding things worth keeping.
Utility does not have to be ordinary. We are drawn to goods and ideas that invite a second look, carry a hint of story, or make an everyday ritual feel a little more considered.
The Mercantile is being built at a pace that leaves room to ask better questions about materials, durability, packaging, sourcing, and waste. As the catalog grows, specific product and sourcing details will be shared wherever they are available.

behind the mercantile
Into the Mythos is an independent, family-built mercantile taking shape in Wisconsin. It began as an invitation to create something together - a place where imagination could run wild while still becoming something tangible, useful, and worth sharing.
Some ideas begin with grown-up planning. Others arrive through sketches, creatures, questions, stories, and the wonderfully unexpected logic of younger imaginations. Every idea is given room to grow before it becomes part of the world, a Field Note, or something that may eventually find its way onto the Mercantile shelves.
We want to build a place where practical goods, storytelling, and everyday curiosity can share the same space. Some pieces will be original. Others may come from makers whose work fits the values and the world of Into the Mythos.
This is a small business by design. Growing slowly and together leaves us room for experimentation, better decisions, and plenty of unexpected turns along the road.
